Practice schedules will be available one week before the season on our athletics website LINK: WATERTOWN ATHLETICS.

Game schedules can be found on Arbiterlive with this LINK: WATERTOWN GAMES

TRYOUTS - Due to team size restrictions, some sports will have tryouts.  Students must be registered and cleared (with a valid physical) to try out on the first day of sports.

TRANSPORTATION

Families/students are responsible for getting themselves to all practices. However, all students will receive transportation to all away games.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

All high school and middle school students are encouraged to participate in athletics. Studies show students involved in athletics generally have improved academic performance, social relationships, self-esteem, and time management skills. Students also learn leadership skills, teamwork/cooperative skills, positive mentoring skills, and adopt a successful mindset and better lifelong fitness goals.

All students enrolling in a sport must:

1) Have a valid physical
2) Be a student in good standing*
3) Pay athletic Fees

*DEFINITION: A student in "Good Academic Standing" is a student who is NOT on HOLD due to owing resources, uniforms, and fees and meets grade/academic requirements. Please see your school's handbook for additional information.

ATHLETIC FEES

FEES - The School Committee has reinstated athletic fees for the coming year. Students will be required to complete payment to receive a uniform:

ATHLETIC FEES FOR 2026/2027
HIGH SCHOOL:
$250 for the first sport / $200 for the second sport / $0 for the second sport

MIDDLE SCHOOL:
$50 for each season

FAMILY CAP:
$750

Fee Assistance is available to high school athletes whose families apply annually for the school year’s need-based fee waiver using the link HERE. Please note that receiving a fee waiver does not affect athletic eligibility. Reduced fees are not available to middle school athletes, as their athletic fees are already reduced.

STUDENT PHYSICALS

SPORTS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

All student-athletes must have a current physical on file to participate in school sports. The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), which governs interscholastic school sports, requires students to have had an in-person physical examination within the past 13 months. T

The physical must be submitted on a school or camp physical form and include the following information:

  1. Student’s full name and date of birth
  2. Date of the in-person physical examination
  3. A statement indicating that the student is eligible to participate in sports, with any applicable restrictions noted
  4. The doctor’s electronic signature

Please note: We cannot accept immunization records, after-visit summaries, or a complete MyChart record download in place of a physical form. Look for the School/Camp Physical Form in your MyChart account to download the correct document.

IMPORTANT: NO STUDENT MAY PARTICIPATE IN ANY PRACTICES OR GAMES WITHOUT A CURRENT PHYSICAL ON FILE.

Due to limited school nurse availability, we strongly recommend that ALL registrants upload their current physical during registration, even if they believe they have already submitted it. This will allow school nurses to review and approve registrations remotely, helping ensure that students are cleared to participate on the first day of their sport.

Need a Sports Physical?
If your student’s physical has expired and you cannot get an appointment with your pediatrician, the following locations offer low-cost sports physicals and may be able to schedule appointments quickly:

  • CVS MinuteClinic: 189 Watertown St., Watertown, MA 02472
  • AFC Urgent Care: 376 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472

Please contact the locations directly to confirm availability, pricing, and appointment scheduling.

HOW TO REGISTER

Follow this link to be directed to the Athletics Registration form. Registration must be completed by the deadline so students are cleared to participate on the first day of tryouts/practices. Registrations submitted after the deadline will take 3 days to clear before the athlete is eligible to participate.

Students cannot try out or participate in any practices until they have been registered and cleared.
