Congratulations to the cast and crew of our spring musical, Mamma Mia!, for their incredible work and unforgettable performances this past weekend! After selling out the Mosesian Center, they wowed audiences with their outstanding talent and stunning sets. Special thank you to our staff Ms. Wilson, Mr. Wulf, and Mr. Poillucci for leading our students in this huge success.
A special shoutout goes to the incredible collaboration behind the scenes - students from the fine, applied, and performing arts, construction technology, and pre-engineering programs worked together to bring the set to life. Inspired by a stone mosaic in a church in Thimiana, Greece, the team created a painted mosaic design that became a centerpiece of the stage. The design was developed using computer-aided design (CAD) software, then converted into a format for a laser cutter to produce a three-part template representing 20 degrees of a full circle. Using this template, the tech crew carefully mapped out and painted a stunning 134-inch-diameter mosaic floor, showcasing both creativity and precision craftsmanship.
Together, their dedication, creativity, and collaboration made this production a truly memorable and impressive success.

On Saturday, March 14, the WHS Jazz Band hit the stage at the MAJE (Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education) State Finals, performing as one of just eight bands in the Division II category! Making it even more exciting, this marks the first time in recent history the band earned an invitation. Huge congratulations to all the talented musicians who made it happen, and a special thank you to Mr. Max Thew for his incredible dedication, hard work, and for making this opportunity possible for our students!

On Saturday, four students - Caitlin Devlin, Shane Devlin, Noa Takahashi, and Nico Verma - represented WHS in the first annual Harvard College High School Ethics Bowl. In this all-day competition, teams tackled ethical dilemmas and moral issues using philosophical reasoning, in addition to attending panels, guest lectures, and interactive workshops with Harvard students and professors.
Caitlin, Shane, Noa, and Nico articulated nuanced arguments relating to six different cases, including vigilante justice, mandatory reporting, and closed adoption, winning praise from the judges for the sophistication and thoughtfulness of their responses. If you are interested in pursuing Ethics Bowl at WHS, join the Google Classroom or contact Mr. Bedar!

Families, we need your help in developing our Portrait of a Graduate! Your perspective as a parent/guardian is critical. You know your student's strengths, needs, and dreams better than anyone and we want to hear your voice!
We would greatly appreciate if you took 10 minutes to complete our Portrait of a Graduate survey. The survey will ask you about the skills that matter most for your student's future, how well Watertown is currently preparing our graduates, and what we should prioritize moving forward.
Additionally, we are looking for parents/guardians who would like to attend our 90-minute virtual focus group session TODAY, March 30, at 6:00 PM. To sign up, please use the above survey or this sign-up form!
Thank you in advance for helping us shape the future of WHS graduates!
