CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION NEWS
Our Career and Technical Education Department, composed of our Medical Assisting, Culinary Arts, Digital Media and Communication, Design and Visual Communication, Business/Marketing/Finance, Construction Technology, and Pre-Engineering programs, have been very busy! Here are just a few things they've been working on:
Culinary Arts
Students in our Culinary II course made their own carnitas! They braised pork for 11 hours, made Pico de Gallo and Guacamole, and chopped cilantro and onions to garnish their tacos. Delicious!

Digital Media Communication
On January 9th, Mr. Riley took 13 students from his TV and Radio Broadcasting classes to the New England Sports Network (NESN) studio- located here in Watertown! NESN is the broadcast home of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.
Students received a tour from Bruins' Executive Producer, Brian Zechello, who’s been employed at the station for 29 years! They saw the studio, control room, and auxiliary control room. This was perfectly timed, as it was a Bruins road game day and the production team was preparing for the game where students saw the preparation that goes into a nightly broadcast. This was also the only time NESN has allowed a high school to come in for a tour as they wanted to be good to their fellow neighbors!

Pre-Engineering:
Students in our Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) class are currently learning how to program and operate a CNC milling machine. In this photo, Michael Scranton (WHS Pre-Engineering Pathway class of '26) is shown securing a piece of stock in the machine's vise in preparation for running a program to engrave his initials.

Students in Mr. Bridge’s Applied Chemistry class demonstrated their creativity and understanding of periodic table trends by completing periodic tables based on their hobbies/interests. They are currently posted in our science hallway.

HARVARD EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAM SCAVENGER HUNT
Our Harvard Emerging Leaders Program students recently participated in a scavenger hunt around the Radcliffe campus and visited the Archives! In the Archives, students were able to look at and reflect on unique, primary source documents such as Civil Rights icon Angela Davis' high school report card, letters written to and from her, and drafts of magazine articles about her. Thank you Ms. Alderson and Ms. Eaton for being our WHS liaisons for this program.

Watertown High School Chorus students shined at the Eastern District Concert on Saturday, January 11th, at Milton High School. After a competitive audition and highly selective process, Maddox Caron, Nairi Davidian, Christopher Papazian, Avery Macdonald, and Defne Liddle represented Watertown High School in this select ensemble. The artistry and precision they brought to the performance was of the highest caliber and illuminated their strong ability and the amazing mentorship of Mr. Wulf. Bravo!
