Watertown High School field hockey, one of the most decorated programs in U.S. field hockey history, won their fourth-straight Division 3 state championship Saturday, defeating previously unbeaten Sandwich High School 2-0.

The Raiders defended their way to the top, killing off 20 Sandwich corners and scoring on two of their own. Caroline Andrade and Kaylee Master tallied goals for Watertown.

With the win, the Raiders senior class completed an undefeated high school career. Watertown is the only field hockey program in Massachusetts history to go undefeated for four or more consecutive championship seasons. The program also accomplished this feat from 2008-2016.

During their tenure in Watertown, the Class of 2025 helped the Raiders set the national record for consecutive shutouts (41), shattering the previous mark of 32 set by Garden City, New Jersey in 1999. The streak spanned the 2022 and 2023 seasons and was broken in the 2023 state championship game by Newburyport, a contest the Raiders won 4-3. In the last four years, the Raiders have allowed just 8 goals.

The Raiders have not lost a game since 2019 and take a 97-game winning streak into the 2025 season. Watertown set the national record for consecutive wins with 124 during a 184-game unbeaten streak, also a national record, between 2008-2016.

The 2024 championship marked the 22nd state title for Hall of Fame Head Coach Eileen Donahue in her 39 years as head coach. Only one school in the United States, Severna Park, Maryland, has more field hockey championships (24) than Watertown (22).

“I’m proud of the coaches, I’m proud of the team, I’m proud of the parents,” said Donahue. “I’m happy for this team and all the other teams in the past.”

Donahue is 777-34-46 in her career. She is one of eight coaches in the 700-win club and only two coaches in U.S. history have eclipsed the 800-win mark.
